MORE ABOUT NATIONAL BRAVEHEARTS DAY

Last year, BraveHearts for Kids helped support 3,904 families in their child’s fight with cancer: Families that desperately needed help in one or maybe several areas:

Some needed the emotional support of a mentor that has been there to help light the way through the dark days of treatment; some needed help paying an electric bill, some needed a temporary place to live during their child’s treatment, and some needed support for the siblings in handling the complex emotions having a brother or sister with cancer creates.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL BRAVEHEARTS DAY! In 2015 The National Day Calendar designated, April 28th each year as the day to honor the bravery of families dealing with pediatric cancer.

First, we pause to give thanks and celebrate the amazing progress in Pediatric Cancer Medicine since our humble beginnings back in 2008,

Second, it’s a day to celebrate the bravery of children suffering from cancer and those who also care deeply enough to join in helping these children and families through the most difficult of times.

Third, and most importantly, it’s a day to give you the opportunity to link arms with us in making an even bigger impact this year in the lives of families facing a pediatric cancer crisis.

About BraveHearts for Kids

HOW YOU CAN BE BOTH A BRAVEHEART AND A SUPER HERO TODAY!

HISTORY OF BRAVEHEARTS FOR KIDS: Back On March 6, 2007, Jeremy and Amy Jacobs, BraveHearts founders were a normal happy family of four, right up until the moment they heard those dreaded words “Your Daughter Has Cancer”. Their little Ava was only 13 months old, and she was being diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a brain tumor at the back of the neck.

Given little hope of survival, she also wasn’t expected to learn to walk, talk, or be normal in any way.

Jeremy described that moment the doctor gave them the terrible news like this: “That moment changed our lives to the very core of our being. The journey we traveled brought us down to our knees, shattering our paradigms of everything we knew of as “normal”. Fortunately, the Jacobs discovered an approach not available at their local hospital, and they were able to scramble the resources to try it.

The treatment ultimately, saved little Ava’s life.

As Ava’s treatment and recovery unfolded, the Jacobs witnessed so many others suffer… Many had sold their homes and quit their jobs to be able to afford the best treatments. It was then, the Jacobs promised themselves to find a way to help other families dealt a similar blow.

So in 2008 with a burning passion to help, BraveHearts for Kids was founded. The mission was to do whatever it took to provide life-saving hope and inspiration to other families facing a pediatric cancer ordeal through outreach, information and mentoring.

PRESENT DAY: Last year, BraveHeart for Kids helped support 3,904 families in their child’s fight with cancer: Families that desperately needed help in one or maybe several areas:

Some needed the emotional support of a mentor that has been there to help light the way through the dark days of treatment; some needed help paying an electric bill, some needed a temporary place to live during their child’s treatment, and some needed support for the siblings in handling the complex emotions having a brother or sister with cancer creates. The list goes on.

Why we Need You: You and others like you make all the difference. Because one thing for certain is when a child gets sick with cancer, the whole family gets sick. The tsunami that results from the initial diagnosis, many times wipes the family out financially, emotionally, and even as a family unit.

This National BraveHearts Day, please give generously, and consider sharing this ask with your friends on social media.
